At MYE we believe in building confident, thoughtful, and informed individuals who will make their personal stamp in their communities and the world. As one of the founding principles of MYE, the MYEarth project strives to be a comprehensive lens through which we ask how as individuals and as an organization we can best live on this planet now, without compromising the needs of future generations.

MYEarth has two components a student curriculum and sustainable operations for the organization.

We believe that sustainability in its social, environmental, economic, and educational contexts is becoming and will continue to become one of the worlds most vital and transformative conversations. This is reflected in the MYEarth curriculum. We believe by participatng in the MYEarth program our students will build a capacity to engage in this conversation. Since this conversation is constantly evolving the MYEarth curriculum will keep up with current events, giving students the foundation of understanding these complex issues. Students will learn in interactive sessions and throughout their field experiences at MYE.

What better place to explore one's place in the “web” than while you are climbing your first peak, cruising down the Yellowstone River, or just watching the clouds float over head. The MYEarth curriculum will give our students other ways of viewing the world and their place in it.

Our hope is that they will take that back to their communities, families, and the world and make their mark.

The second component of MYEarth is the sustainable operations of our organization. We believe that if we are asking the tough questions of our students we should be asking those questions as an organization and even better, have some suggestions about how to make changes. At MYE we strive to provide our students, staff, and visitors with a work in progress model of sustainability. Our students will discuss water conservation in the curriculum, thenl see examples of it in action around Base Camp, and we will ask them to participate to help make it a reality.

This is how the MYEarth sustainable operations becomes a teaching tool to the curriculum and gives all of us a way of seeing big concepts in a smaller way.
